The JAM Session

Jinank Jain

First year.

I am going to write about my first JAM session experience at IIT Rajasthan which was amazingly awesome. Firstly I am going to describe little about that day and how it got started up. It was one of the enjoying Sunday morning and I wake late in morning and after waking up I prepared some sort of points as I had planned to take part in debate competition on the topic “are athelets and professionals actors paid more” and when I had reached Portable Cabin I came to know that first of hurdle session is going to be organized. We formed a team of three members and took part in that and enjoyed a lot. After that we had lunch and we reassemble for debate competition which was proposed to be organized. As we reached there we found only few persons had came forward for debate competition so Rishi decided to cancel the debate and instead of that we had JAM session. It was my good luck that I was one among those lucky persons who had chance to experience such an enjoyable JAM session right out there.
Now I am going to describe about the JAM session. First of all Rishi explained what JAM session actually is and what are its rules. First of all a team of eight of our seniors played the game to make us familiar with various formats and we were made referees and time keeper for that turn.It was an astonishing experience to see them competing. First round was disconnect in that we have to continuously and flawlessly speak on anything without having any connection between first and second sentence and if we do so other team members bang the table and then they would explain how the two sentence were connected and they will get the chance to speak in the similar fashion we have to continue and have to speak for maximum time. For a small moment also if our concentration break and we fumble and then starts the banging of the bench and it was enjoyable how they interrupt each other. The most funny part I found in this was if you speak once about any sort of colours and you are allowed to use anything of about colour and other team members are always ready to connect it with colour and the winner of this round came out to Chintan.
After that our chance came to participate in the round we also had first disconnect round. But our second for quiet interesting it was a story telling round. Rishi gave us the starting that once upon a time there was a King in Mumbai from there our imagination started running wild and we connected the story with Voldemort and his seven horcruxes as seven sons of king and after that it was time to reveal the suspense of a child of Voldemort and Kedar was born named Jenil and now all the powers of Lord Voldemort were transferred to Jenil and he committed a murder of somebody and to add spice to the story there came the entry of Sherlock Holmes. Anyone who would listen the story would go mad laughing away and same thing happened with me. Finally our time ended up here that’s why we had to stop here only. The most interesting part of this format was any new character you are going to introduce you have to explain him first who he is.
The most interesting session which i found in JAM session was story telling round because in this round you expand the horizons of your imagination and give a new turn to the story in whatever way you want. Frankly speaking first I had no interest to take part in Literature Club but after participating in this JAM session I was eager to be a part of Literature club because I wanted to do more and more JAM sessions and have lots of fun.
